P2P crypto trading, explained clearly

How peer-to-peer crypto trades work, how escrow protects both sides, how to spot scams, and what the archive shows about the Shiftal P2P exchange and its coin, SFL. No trading here, only facts.

This site does not offer trading, wallets or coin sales. 18+ only.

The basics

P2P trading in four steps

  1. 1

    Pick an offer

Choose a buy or sell advert: price, limits, payment method and the other person's track record.

  2. 2

    Crypto goes into escrow

The platform locks the seller's coins, so the buyer knows they exist before paying.

  3. 3

    Pay and confirm

The buyer pays the seller directly. The seller checks their own account and confirms the money has arrived.

  4. 4

    Release or dispute

Escrow releases the crypto to the buyer. If something is wrong, either side opens a dispute with proof.

Trade-offs

Why people use P2P, and what to watch

Why it appeals

  • Pay with local methods such as bank transfer or an e-wallet.
  • Trade small amounts without a card.
  • Reach crypto where banking rails or card acceptance are limited.
  • Choose your counterparty by price and track record.

What to watch

  • The other side can be a fraudster, or the payment can be reversed.
  • Prices include a premium over the market rate.
  • Fake payment screenshots and off-platform requests are common tricks.
  • Rules, taxes and KYC requirements differ by country.

Another kind of peer-to-peer cash: MobCash

Crypto P2P moves digital assets between individuals. In some markets a different model exists: registered agents who handle cash deposits and withdrawals for players. MobCash is the 1xBet app that lets registered agents top up player accounts and pay out withdrawals from a smartphone, with every transaction and commission recorded.

  • up to 8%programme commission on deposits
  • 2%on withdrawals
  • 18+eligible countries only

Programme information lists these rates subject to country and agreement; a manager confirms current terms in writing. MobCash is a working tool for approved agents, not a personal wallet, and applications go through the official Telegram bot. MobCash is a separate project and is not part of Shiftal.

FAQ

Quick answers

What is P2P crypto trading?

It is buying and selling crypto directly with another person instead of with an exchange's own order book. A platform usually holds the seller's crypto in escrow while the buyer pays the seller by bank transfer, e-wallet or another method.

How does escrow protect a P2P trade?

The platform locks the crypto when the trade starts and releases it only after the seller confirms the payment arrived, or after support rules on a dispute. It protects against a seller who takes the money and keeps the coins. It does not protect you if you release crypto yourself before the money has really cleared.

Is P2P trading safe?

It can be, if you stay inside a reputable platform's escrow, check the other side's history, and never release crypto until funds are in your own account. Most losses come from skipping those steps. Read our scam checklist.

Do I need to verify my identity?

On most regulated platforms, yes. KYC checks are normal for exchanges and for many P2P services. Here is what to expect.

What happened to Shiftal and the SFL coin?

The Shiftal project published a P2P exchange and a utility coin, SFL, in 2020-2023. From late 2023 the shiftalcoin.com site showed only a default server page. We cannot confirm the current state of any Shiftal service. See the archive.

Can I buy or sell SFL here?

No. This site does not sell coins or run any exchange, and we do not track SFL markets. Be cautious about anyone offering SFL, and read our SFL page.
